College Student-Athlete Mentorship

Phase I – Single Sessions

Experience matters.  This mentorship opportunity with a current college student-athlete will give the aspiring college student-athlete a better understanding of the college student-athlete recruitment process.  You you have the opportunity to recieve advice from a current college student-athlete who has been through the recruitment process.  A session with a college student-athlete is $80 (USD) for one 45-minute to 1 hour sessionPayment is taken prior to the session.  You and the mentor will agree on a day and time to meet. Next Step Mentoring will send you a Zoom link to meet with your mentor and you will be reminded of your session via email two days prior to your session*. 

If the aspiring college student-athlete is interested in continuing a mentorship partnership with the same or another college-student athlete, Next Step Mentorship offers 30-minute mentorship follow-ups at $45 (USD) per session.  A full-hour session is required before registering for a 30-minute session

*Should there need to be a reschedule of your mentoring session, please notify Next Step Mentoring 24 hours prior to the session at [email protected].  No shows will forfeit $15.00.  Our college-student athletes’ time is invaluable; thus, $10.00 will be directed to the assigned college student-athlete mentor.  If the college-student athlete does not show, Next Step Mentoring will refund the $80.00 or work with you to reschedule with the same college student-athlete or another college student-athlete.

An Intensive Personalized Mentorship

Phase II

Under this unique mentorship opportunity, the aspiring college student-athlete will receive four live sessions, and one recorded video with critical financial information on college expenses from a professional college recruitment facilitator.  These five sessions will enable the aspiring college student-athlete to prepare for a successful college student-athlete process.  It is important for future college student-athletes and family/guardians to be aware of the NCAA’s academic requirements for scholarship eligibility.  It is equally important for the future student-athletes to be aware of the academic requirements for the university or college that the student may want to attend.  Preparing for the future starts today.  For this intensive personalized five-session mentorship package, the service is $800.00.    

These sessions are spread across several weeks or can be presented in two weeks:

Academic Session #1: Discuss: aspiring college student-athlete’s current academic strengths and challenges, area(s) of general academic interest to study in college, review NCAA Initial-Eligibility Standards, review current high school courses eligible for the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Standards, share with the academic mentor three universities where the aspiring college student-athlete would like to attend.

Academic Session #2: Debrief on Session #1, discuss the three universities’ academic standards for admission including gpa, minimum required high school courses, and college test scores (if any). This session is intended to give the aspiring college student-athlete a focused and realistic view of academic standards for the student’s desired colleges.

Preparing for Recruitment Session #1: Session #2 is entitled “Finding the Right Fit-College.” In this session, topics will explore questions to ask about a university such as a school’s academic programs, school sizes, and student-to-teacher ratios, school location, school costs, sports programs.

Preparing for Recruitment Session #2: This session will give the aspiring college student-athlete guideposts, suggestions, insight into developing a personalized marketing plan. Topics to discuss include email contacts, unofficial visits, official visits, phone calls for self-advocating.
